The Underprivileged and Differently-abled section of the Society, who are always neglected and left out, also do have equal rights as others to join the celebrations of the most awaited Durga Puja and that too in the City of Joy - Kolkata itself and thereby soak in the joy and fanfare. To establish these rights, 'Voice of World' organises a "Puja Parikrama for Persons with Disabilities" every year wherein about 100 Persons with Disabilities and their Escorts are brought in from different districts of rural Bengal and taken to various Puja Pandals of the City after handing over new garments to them. This event is organized under the guidance and support from the Office of the State Commissioner - for Persons with Disabilities under the Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal. This year's event was held on 1st October, 2019
at the Community Centre adjacent to the Sangha Teertha Durga Puja premises.
Shri Debabrata Chattaraj, State Commissioner - For Persons with Disabilities, Shri Mohan Kumar Gupta, Councillor - Ward No. 17, KMC and other distinguished guests were present on the dais during the Inauguration Function.
The dignitaries gave away the new garments to the beneficiaries and thereafter Flagged Off the Puja Parikrama.
An Annual Braille Magazine is published every year on tis occasion and this year the 'Sharodiya Braille Magazine' was unveiled by the Hon'ble State Commissioner during the function.
Sangha Teertha Durga Puja Committee have always been very supportive to provide us the venue and Stage support.
Today around 100 Disabled Persons along with Escorts were part of the Puja Parikrma team who received New Garments and also were taken on a guided tour to various Puja pandals.
Adequate refreshments and lunch were also provided to everyone who were present.
The kids of 'Voice of World' did not miss this opportunity and were also part of the Puja Parikrama team.
All the persons who received the garments and went for the tour were very happy and their smile said it all.....
